The Ottoman Remix Part 2

I've done it again! Remixed not just one but two more ottomans for you guys! If you forgot the first Ottoman Remix go HERE!

I also used many of the tips mentioned in that post again with this project!

I will mentioning them again throughout this post, but without further ado here they are all finished up!!

{FUN huh!!! Love the color and the vintage fabric ;)!}

Here they are before I worked my magic!

{I found this one at the D.I. (local Utah thrift store), for $5.00! There was a catch though it reeked of smelly foot! Once I got it home my hubs and I febrezed that puppy like our life depended on it! Thank goodness for febreze! I am so glad I snatched this up because it opens up and adds additional storage for some of my many craft supplies and also adds additional seating!}

{I found this cube style ottoman at Target on clearance for $7.50 but the deal got even sweeter when we had a coupon for $5.00 off any ottoman at Target! So it ended up settin' us back $2.50!! Deals, Deals, Deals!!}

This was the fabric that I used:

{ This came from the thrift store as well for I believe $1.50....and guess what???It's a sheet!!! Oh how I love to use sheets for reupholstering! It really is so cost effective especially when you find them at a thrift store, and you don't have to have funky seams going all over!}

{Love the colors of this sheet! I am in the process of re-decorating our TV room in the color scheme of: Celery Green, Orange, and Yellow. So this worked out perf don't you think?!}

Want to remix some of your ottomans?

Here is what you will need:

~ Ottomans of course ;)
~ Fabric of your choosing
~ Staple gun
~ Sewing machine
~ Exact-o-knife
~ Rotary cutter or scissors
~ Measuring tape

Here's how its done:

1. Remove old fabric from the base by using an exact-o-knife and some elbow grease ;).

2. On one of my ottomans the foam underneath the fabric was green so I had to cover it in a white felt. This is optional due to what kind of fabric you will be using to cover your ottoman with whether the color would show through or not.

3. Measure the dimensions of your ottoman plus add a seam allowance, I usually do my seams at 1/4 of an inch on each side. Also make sure you have an allowance for being able to staple the fabric to the base of the ottoman, to be on the safe side 2-3 inches.


4. Cut fabric out using your rotary cutter to the measurements determined in the previous step.


5. Sew all of the pieces together on your sewing machine, all of my pieces were done in squares since they were cube ottomans so that made it easy. If you want to just recover your ottoman without sewing just pretend like its a present you are wrapping and cover it in that fashion. For a step by step go HERE!

6. Cover your ottoman with the slip cover just created in the previous step, and fasten the left over fabric flaps to the base of the ottoman using a staple gun.

7. Marvel at your awesome work!!
